Privacy policy

Apexic Scan is a local document scanner. Scans, OCR text, and exported PDFs stay on your device by default. The app does not require signing in to use core features and does not show ads.

Data stored on your device

We store on your device: scanned page images; document titles and page order; on-device OCR text and line positions used for searchable PDF export; app settings such as default PDF page size and whether OCR runs automatically; optionally, exported PDF files you choose to save or share; and the last folder you picked for saving PDFs (URI only).

This data is stored in app-private storage using on-device SQLite and the filesystem.

Data we do not collect by default

Apexic Scan does not collect account credentials for a required login, advertising identifiers for an Apexic ads product, contact lists, SMS, call logs, or precise location for scanning.

Optional online or AI tools only receive pages you choose to submit after Online features is enabled.

Processing

Document edge detection and capture use the device document scanner UI. Text recognition uses a bundled on-device ML Kit Latin OCR model. Searchable PDF creation runs locally with an invisible text layer.

Sharing uses the system share sheet. If you share a PDF to another app, that destination's privacy policy applies after you choose to share.

Permissions

Camera access is used only when you scan a document. Folder picking uses the system directory picker when you save a PDF. Photo library access is used when you import images.

Children's privacy

Apexic Scan is a general productivity tool and is not directed at children under 13.
